When you keep having the same fight

You might recognise this

The same argument on a loop, just with different details. The silence that's easier than another blow-up. The feeling of being more like roommates than partners. Struggling doesn't mean your relationship is failing. It means you're human, and something needs to be heard.

Communication ruts Resentment Lost intimacy Broken trust Constant conflict Growing apart

How it works

How we work with couples at Auren

Four steps that shape how we work together, built around what you're actually bringing, not a template. A balanced, non-judgmental space where both partners feel safe to be honest.

01

Understand the cycle

We map the pattern that keeps playing out, not to assign blame, but to see what you're both reacting to.

02

Hear underneath

We help each partner share what's underneath the frustration: the needs, fears, and hopes driving the cycle.

03

Practice new moves

We build small experiments (new responses, new conversations) that interrupt the pattern in real life.

04

Secure the base

We strengthen the foundation so the relationship holds through future stress, long after therapy ends.

Common questions

Before you book

That's more common than you'd think, and it's completely okay. Relationship work can absolutely start with one partner, and understanding your own patterns often shifts the dynamic. You're welcome to begin on your own and bring your partner in when they're ready.

We bill most insurance providers directly, so in many cases you won't pay out of pocket and wait for reimbursement. Coverage for couples therapy varies by plan, so mention your provider during your free consult and we'll help you check.

Completely free, with zero obligation. It's a relaxed conversation to help you decide whether a therapist feels like the right fit before you commit to anything.

Both. We offer in-person sessions at our office at 1 Centrepointe Dr, Suite 404 in Ottawa, and secure virtual sessions anywhere in Ontario. Online is especially handy for couples juggling work and childcare, since you can join from the same couch.

Our couples therapists draw on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, and attachment-based approaches: the most well-researched methods for helping couples understand their patterns, communicate without blame, repair trust, and build lasting connection.

Couples come to us at every stage, from a small rough patch to the edge of separation. Whether you're rebuilding after a breach of trust or simply want to feel close again, it's worth a conversation. Therapy isn't only for crisis; it's also how good relationships get stronger.
